Environment & Sustainability
The global oil market is mired with uncertainties including geo-political risks. Few questions arise
- When is peak Oil?
- How quickly will the demand decline once peak is reached?
- What will be the supply reaction and price uncertainties?
- What will be the window of energy transition – will it last a few decades?
Demand for fossil fuels is forecast to remain through 2050. Reducing production can have an impact on decreasing energy security and increasing energy cost. It’ll be years before a zero-carbon system can be in place without diesel or gas as back-up. But we got to start somewhere……….
As a first step, we intend to contribute to our regional net zero targets by implementing internal carbon reduction projects, for example improving process efficiencies and curbing demands.
We intend to start with humble ideas – solar panels for office lighting, solar panels for our ships’ accommodation lights, smart Galley on board – and embark on more ambitious projects like Battery-on-Board in the near future.
